We are very sad to share the news that Joyce Mellor passed away earlier this week aged 95.
Joyce was a long standing member of Derbyshire ASA and served on the executive committee for many years. Joyce was DASA Competition Secretary from 1980 to 2017, was elected President of DASA in 1986 and she was made a Life Member of the Association in 1999.
Current committee members were shown how to use the recording systems by Joyce when they first started.
Joyce was involved with City of Derby Swimming Club for many years and remained as President when the club merged with Derventio Excel in 2023 to form Derby Excel and only stepped down in September 2025 due to ill health.
Her funeral will take place on Tuesday 19th May at 1-30 pm at Markeaton Crematorium and the Wake will be at The Great Northern in Mickleover
